2024 NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards

Celebrating Excellence in Volunteering

We are thrilled to announce that our dedicated volunteer of seven years, Beverley Peachman, received a recognition award at the 2024 NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards, held in Stockton on Friday, 4 October.

Bev has made an indelible mark through her selfless commitment to Volunteers for Palliative Care Inc. in Maitland. In addition to her invaluable contributions to our organisation, she has also served as a Pink Lady at The Maitland Hospital for many years, showcasing her unwavering dedication to the community.

What truly sets Bev apart is not just her extensive volunteering experience, but her profound impact on the lives of those around her. A pillar of strength and support, she has been there for friends, family, and even strangers facing daunting challenges such as dementia and cancer. Bev’s nurturing spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand exemplify the essence of community service.

With a nursing background specialising in renal and transplantation, Bev’s compassionate nature has provided comfort and solace to countless individuals. We extend our gratitude for her dedicated support to families in Maitland.

The NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards, hosted by The Centre for Volunteering, is an annual celebration that honors the incredible dedication, effort, and community service of volunteers, volunteer leaders, and teams across New South Wales. This year’s awards program continues to grow, becoming one of the largest celebrations of volunteering in Australia. Last year alone, over 133,000 nominees from more than 500 organisations were recognised at regional and state ceremonies, with special messages of support from the Prime Minister, the Premier, and the Governor of NSW.

Join us in celebrating Bev and all the remarkable volunteers who make a difference in our communities every day!
