General Practitioners
The following information is specifically for health practitioners.
The primary goals for volunteer palliative services are companionship, psychosocial support and improving quality of life for those with life limiting illness. Please note we are unable to provide to provide personal care, do housework, manage medication, or give nursing support.
We welcome referrals for clients who meet the following criteria:
- Reside in the Maitland Local Government Area;
- Have a progressive, life limiting illness with a prognosis of around 24 months or less;
- Have limited family or community supports, experiences isolation and/or is unable to find suitable transport to essential medical appointments; and
- They (or their legal guardian) are aware of and agrees to the referral.
